Well, not brand new and shiny like the year we’re about to begin.. But, wait a minute.. Is a new year really brand new and shiny? I mean, after all – we come into the New Year with all of last year’s stuff, so at 12:01 it’s just really another day in the life…. Right?
I’m not really jumping into this post and getting to the point am I?
The New Year marks a whole lotta changes for your faithful scribe – not the least of which would be the new full time living arrangements with the Hot-blooded Mexican. Emilia and I’ve been shacking up together since November 1, but effective today, my old address is no more. I am now a fully domesticated middle-aged Man In Love. ...That's not true. I’m past middle age..
And we have a real commercial shop. No more art deco basement/garage/parts room juggling act and I can look forward to never having to push a really expensive motorcycle up (or down) the ramp leading into the basement shop. I’ll probably live five years longer without the stress and exercise. So the past 3 weeks have been a string of long days packing and humping stuff around while running a business and doing all the necessary stuff associated with the moves. A huge THANK YOU to Rob, Neville, Adam and Emilia for helping me get though this with my sanity and my back intact.
The shop’s cool. One block either side of me are Little Italy and Chinatown and my building mate is a CNC shop. A nice tidy space on the lower level for bike storage, office and assembly/disassembly and about 700 SQFT upstairs for parts and process work. The only thing missing is the bike lift.
So, after spending a pleasant day in the new space cleaning the past season off of the F1 and prepping it for the Supershow next weekend – it’s going to be an evening of candlelight, good food, old vinyl, and a crackling fire (to mask the scratches on said vinyl) with my new lover as we welcome the New Year.
And a very happy one to all of you.
